Leather cases and boxes

Austin Winstanley has been working as a designer leathercraftsman since the early 1970s, building up a business specialising in bespoke cases and boxes, traditionally made with high quality materials. He works with a variety of leathers including 1786 'Russia Leather' from the shipwreck of the Metta Catharina.

The range of round and oval small boxes can be used for jewellery, cufflinks and treasures. Leathers can be dyed and interiors of cases shaped and lined to meet individual customers specifications.

Austin Winstanleys work is known for its craftsman-like hand stitching and for the elegant simplicity of form and design.

  • Choice of leathers include: 1786 Russia Calf, hand-dyed, vegetable tanned, full grain leathers
  • Hand stitched seams
  • Fittings: best quality brass or brass/chrome; hand-stitched handles
  • Light, strong, hand-made substructures of cedar/birch
  • Smaller boxes of solid leather construction
  • Linings include goatskin, gloving suede, UK grown and woven linen
